the second Karuizawa International Ballet Competition will be held.

MESSAGE

Since the first competiton in the last autumn was very good reputation,we decided to have the second competion this year, too. Karuizawa International Ballet Competition was established for adult amateur ballet dancers, not only in Japan, from around the world.

Our mission is to create an opportunity for adult dancers to dance on stage and to encourage their passion for Ballet. We offer a positive competitive atmosphere with Juries and share their knowledge. Participants will develop their ballet technique, and also friendships and connections with people who share the same “Love of Ballet” as you.

Its venue is located in Karuizawa (International goodwill cultural tourism town) Nagano, where’s a popular destination to enjoy the colorful autumn foliage in Japan. Join us and make it one of the annual events in 2024!

Rotation such as pirouette and piquet turn is a difficult step that requires a lot of elements such as hand coordination, face rhythm, and position. It is a class where you can look at each person’s habits and give advice and make new discoveries.

Checketti Method Exercise

MIHO TSURUTANI

Ballet Luce, Enrico Cechetti, who was the ballet master of the Imperial Mariinsky Theater, systematized day-of-the-week exercises based on ballet theory for the members. The beautiful method studded with performance works was taken over by his disciples (the founder of the Royal Ballet, the inventor of Vaganova and the RAD method), and had a great impact on British and Russian ballet works. Let’s enjoy the legendary method that is still loved in the world and engraved its name in the history of ballet together.

Gamzatti’s Va is famous as the Va of the engagement scene in “La Bayadale”, but it is also known as the “Pirate” Va. It is a Va that combines a lot of big jumps and has dynamic, elegant and feminine elements. It is also a popular program in the competition.
